Good morning, i hope you are all well?
You may be receiving this alert if you are a member of a Neighbourhood Watch, or have indicated that you would like alerts in relation to them. May presented a lot of challenges for neighbourhood teams across the county. At the heart of everything we do on the neighbourhood team however Please click here to complete the survey is prevention; we proactively patrol areas that may show a increase in a certain type of offending, or the signs of repeat anti social behaviour that may be detrimental to the community. We reactively respond to incidents, intelligence or community rumours to ensure that everyone is kept safe and we implement strategies and intervention in an attempt to safeguard victims, and repeat offenders to prevent further issues. Throughout May and into June some of the areas of concern for the teams have been: Nuisance motorbikes- being ridden on parks and pathways- several of which we have identified- with community assistance- and seized. Home visits to young people riding these bikes have been conducted. This issue occurs most summers and we are seeking to be proactive about it before the nice weather arrives so residents can enjoy their green spaces. Operation days with neighbouring Police sections are being planned.Rykneld Park has had some issues with street drinkers recently- they appear to be people that have been dispersed from the City Centre and on occasion will go to sit on this park. Many have been identified and we disperse them from here. We will be seeking Community Protection Notices for persistent street drinkers. Anti social behaviour on parks- from larger parks such as Sunnydale and King George's to smaller ones such as Arboretum, Rowditch and Sherwood, the team have been patrolling at various times, in all weather to deter nuisance individuals and groups and to take positive action against repeat offenders. Dispersals, Community Protection Warnings and arrests ( For drug dealing) have occurred. This will continue throughout the summer months. In due course the team will be meeting with Allotment managers and users to look at marking tools and securing sheds. Derby East; that being Alvaston, Allenton, Sinfin, Shelton Lock and Chellaston, has had a spate of allotment break ins and thefts and i am keen to ensure that allotments on our patch are as secure as they can be, and would be thieves are deterred. Many thanks for your continued support, Sam |
